I threw some generic HID projectors into the valance on my Flareside. Turned out pretty nice. I threw a 2017 bumper on one of my other trucks with the Morimoto LED's they're nice. I think I would look into the bumper swap, it's easy to do and looks great.
Two questions: What light bar is that, and how did you mount your tow hooks? Looks good!
Thanks Toork! Light bar is a Rampage if I remember correctly. The tow hooks for a 2" receiver that I welded into the frame along with a grade 8 3/4" bolt going through the frame and the RSK frame. Then welded on "cover" plate to make it look nicer. PS the bracket I received was pretty flimsy for the bumper so I welded on some 1 1/2 inch angle iron to stiffen it up.
You also have to flip your license plate bracket around to fit light bar above it. One last thing, an o ring or grommet will keep the tow hook from slapping your bumper. Hope this helps!
Why do some people love LED and say the work great? I like your idea. Can you take a picture of the back side where it mounts?
I have no idea why people like LED headlights. Some people think they are great just because they are bright and not the warm color so they think they can see better. Sometimes they can sometimes they actually can't. Many times increased foreground lighting gives the illusion of better visibility which is a false sense of security. I don't even like the factory LED headlights. The cold color temperature is just plain wrong for any sort of usable light no matter if it is automotive, or workshop or in the house for reading. I do like some factory HID lights since the project the light better and are not as bluish in color. I also like some LEDs for tail lights, but that is about my limit. I don't even like the bright blue/white interior LEDs etc. I find warm white LEDs for that.
I'll try to get a picture tomorrow of how the Hellas are mounted. It is really simple to do, but can be a trick to get them straight when tightening up the mounting bolts.
EB5.0,
I did exactly like TEXASGUY001 indicated. The square slot on the instrument cluster, I cut an opening for my driving lamp switch. Used an after-market plastic ~ 7/8" round rocker switch that has a tiny blue light LED light and illuminates when the switch is energized. Being honest and even though I do like lights, the tiny blue LED is too bright at night speaking for myself. Might try darkening the tiny LED light with a brown or black sharpie. Those lights really complement your bumper and entire front end.
If you haven't yet taken your plastic instrument panel off, be careful and don't be surprised if you find the mounting holes and ears cracked. I replaced both instrument plastic panels in the 95 F-150s Eddie Bauer and Lightning because of there mounting holes and mounting tab / ears being cracked beyond JB Weld repair.
I agree about the bright blue lights for indicator use. They disrupt night vision. I would just replace the switch with the same or similar style that illuminates green, amber, or red. I like green but red is easiest on the eyes for glare, and blue is the worst.
Yes, take is easy on the instrument cluster bezel. It is a known fragile area on these trucks.
