I purchased a 2000 F250 CC V10 shortbed in November. Just have to say I love the truck! One option it didn't have was foglights. Any recommendations on what foglights to install? I know the factory ones are pretty small due to the limited space. Are the factory fog lights available from Ford?
The Ford foglights are available via the parts room at your local dealer. The dealer will more than likely have to order them for you. From what I have understand from threads in the past on this message board, you get a new master headlight switch that has the ability to turn on the foglights without adding another switch. About 18 months ago the price was $250 for the kit and it included everything you needed to install the lights, including the instructions.
I have a 2000 F250 SC PSD and it didn't come w/fog lights. I promptly went to my aftermarket guy and ordered the PIAA 1700 series. They retail for $239. They are the ultra white color and they are mounted just to the center of the tow hooks(where the new factory ones go) they have their own switch and they fill out the low dark spot that the headlights leave. In an word-awesome.

The important question is what do you want with your lights:
a) See farther on your dims without blinding oncoming traffic
b) see farther in fog
c) light up the shouders of the road without blinding on coming traffic
a) Use round driving lights - see farther and they help some in fog.
b) round or oval fog lights - will help see in fog or heavy rain
c) rectangular lights - Will light up your field of vision for a short distance and give some help in fog or heavy rain. Excellent here in South Texas where it is important to watch for deer at night. Can see'em in the ditch on left (or right) side of road up to 300 feet away!
Choose Halogen, the only way to go, but for fog, the most powerful ones will reflect some light back at you. I have rectangular lights mounted below my bumper on my '99 F250 4x4 (for fog, mount them as low as you can).

I have a 2000 SD and it did not come with fog lamps. However, my friends 2001 did. It turns out that my headlight switch is capable of turning on the factory lights. In fact, we found that all the other 2000 we looked at did also. That is once the head lights are turned on, you pull the switch out for the fog lamps. Pretty cool, so now you have a factory way to switch any lights you put on.
Be careful assuming that the switch already installed in the SuperDuty will activate your fog lights. In a previous thread, it was stated the the original equipment switch will not turn on the fog lights. Part of the kit is a replacement switch that will do just that though.
