I’m looking at possibly buying a 2004 f250 and wanted y’all’s thoughts. As far as the body and paint it is very good, no rust or dents. It has leather seats and crew cab 4wd. I believe it may be a lariat. It has 200000 miles on it. My buddy owns it and all he says it needs is a radiator and fuel injector harness for he put them on his excursion. It has sat for almost a year. As far as bulletproofing or aftermarket stuff I haven’t asked yet. I do know it has an after market coolant filter. The guy wants 2000 dollars. Should I buy it?
I just replaced my engine harnesses, only the main harness is available from Ford, the others have been discontinued. However, they are available in the aftermarket world.
You might need a new oil cooler, after sitting so long the coolant lines might be plugged in the one in it, that can run about $2000 just for parts depending if you go remote cooler or replace with a stock. There are several more mods which are recommended if you have to do that, depending on the year of your motor. There are lots of threads on this forum which talk about all the mods and repairs which can be/recommended to be done. If you are willing to do the work it can be affordable. It will be a lot of work but it is very rewarding when you get it running.
The price is fair. If the title is clean, you can prolly get more than that for it without doing anything. The car thieves are always looking for clean titles, regardless of the body condition. $2k is about the going rate from what I've seen. First, strip the cat, seats/interior, and easily removed engine parts to sell. Wait for someone to buy the front clip as one unit, and let them do the work to remove it. All of those parts prolly breaks you even. Then, sell the clean title and carcass for a $2k profit.
Of course, you can see if it'll run first, but all-in-all, a fairly no-risk purchase.

Good Luck,
Jeff
I figured that I would try to do the minimum to get it running for the sake of money atm. Which would be radiator and harness. From my understanding the radiator has been out of it for probably a year. If there were debris in them i thought I would clean them out myself and reuse them. I panned to do in the close future when I got more money an egr delete and while I was doing that replace the stock oil cooler with another stock one for it has and after market coolant filter. That is if that is not already done. I did notice most harnesses where 150-300 dollars. But some on Amazon for like 40 dollars. I am very skeptical of the cheap ones but thought I would ask if anybody has used them.
