Seeking advice on cleaning up these emblems. They are in good condition but I wa t to make shine as best as possible. I have another set in worse condition where the chrome is lifting some etc, I've looked into spray chrome in that scenario
I use Motorcraft bright metal cleaner for similar things and it works well
I have never used 0000 steel wool but heard this may be a good options
Fine steel wool on old, tarnished emblems works really well for me but unfortunately it won't get rid of pits. A bit of polish afterwards really shines them up.
I think you are spot on with the idea to use 0000 grade steel wool, never more course than that. I use that 0000 on a lot of parts, including 91% isopropanol liberally to lift away the wool fibers and grime often. Then a toothbrush and toothpaste to get into tight areas. After a good hot water and dish soap rinse I use car paste wax to shine them afterward.
Morris right about the pits. But most of the time the shiny parts come out looking much better than you hoped.

Saw this product used on Jay Leno's Garage and I bought the 8 oz size in fine. Used it on emblems and bezels with very good results. It is available on amazon.
I bought something called Autosol from NAPA. Used it on my DD chrome rims. They look brand new. This was one of the worst spots after using car wash soap and scrubbing them.

Comes in a toothpaste type container. Put a little on with one cloth and rub it off with another. Not hard at all, just don't leave it on for more then about 20 seconds, gets harder to rub off. You need very little.
Had a guy show me a picture of an alum. saddle tank he did using an electric buffer. Turned out looking like chrome. I tried a small spot on an alum. fender for my work trailer that was about 2 years old just for fun. Made it look brand new as well but was more work since I don't keep it clean.
I used autosomal but mainly on aluminum or stainless trim on trailers, ans yes it works wonders! Flitz is another version
I could not find any fine wool to use locally and with covid-19 restrictions it was tough to wander around or get somone to order
I resorted to using my Ford/Motorcraft bright metal cleaner, which I have used on many things prior, it worked amazing! I will try and attach photos. Emblems polished and installed! Art project Badged
