hello a, i just got a 1979 ford f-350/f-360 lariat, and i need some help. is there any suggestions of what i should do with it? there is really no rust, i know it needs new paint, possibly trim, all new fluids, and maybe some engine work. everything works just fine mechanically besides the fuel pump. i plan on fully restoring it. does anyone happen to be selling any trim in it for here? here is some pictures of it.
just a fyi, it’s been sitting in a field for 20 years.
Well you have a good start - definitely replace the fluids. The carb will most likely need an overhaul. Maybe a new gas tank and fuel lines. Check your brake lines carefully. Tune up - plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing.
What engine/transmission? Mileage? 2 or 4 wheel drive?
And more pictures - we love more pictures! How does the interior look?

yes, all of those are definitely a must. it has the 6.6 L v8, and 115k miles. not sure about the transmission. it does has 4 wheel drive witch came stock with it from the dealership. the previous and first owner of it said that he got it fully optioned out. the interior is in perfect condition. should i restore the paint that’s on it, or give it a new paint job? both fuel tanks are getting cleaned out as we speak. i just look at the paper work, and it said it was a f-360. does that mean anything?

Reason: more information
Well you're 90% of the way there with the LIBERTY plate holder. The rest is just a little housekeeping.
hahahaha. i really do need trim on the other side of the truck. does anyone know of where i can get some? should i keep the paint or repaint it? i already cleaned out the cab. those are just old pics. i also need a new seat belt on the drivers side.

Nice truck. There is no way I’d paint it if it were mine. Find the missing trim, clean it up good and you should be able to bring the paint back using the proper products. Search online ‘restoring single stage paint’ and that should point you in right direction.

ok great, thank you. I have the trim, but it is damaged. Is there anyway it can be restored? What do I do with surface rust on the paint? The clear coat it completely gone. Any suggestions?

If the paint is original, I think it’s single stage and not base coat, clear coat like newer cars. To remove rust look at washing and cleaning with diluted CLR and Scotch Brite pads, green is what I would use. Search ‘CLR car wash’. You are going to have to trial and error to see what works. Once you have rust and oxidation removed you can follow steps of restoring single stage paint. I think you can make that truck’s paint look very good again, it’s just going to take some work. End result though will be worth it and better than a new paint job if you can pull it off.

I can definitely do it. It is stock paint. I has some pretty big dents on it, what do I do about those?
Nice truck with great options!
Your transmission will be a C6 (if original).
Checkout the Marketplace forum here for your trim. Or one of the vendor/sponsors: LMC, Bronco Graveyard, etc.
That is a super nice truck, very nice interior. As said, I wouldn’t touch the paint, just clean it up and get the trim sorted out. F36 is just the code for 4x4 F350. That trucks trim package was the King Ranch of its day. You scored a very nice survivor.
maybe a dana 60 up front? show some pics of the other side that needs moldings,,,so we see what you need
thank you all for getting back to me. the truck is in the shop getting it’s tanks cleaned, so i don’t have any more pictures. i have all of the trim for both sides, but all of the trim on the right side starting with the bed to the tailgate is dented and bent.I just need trim for the entire drivers side of the bed. I have a massive dent in the drivers door. Should I take off the interior door trim and push the dent out?
