Pretty sure I made a big mistake today. Bought 5 Falken wildpeak at3 off a co worker today. They are new take offs. Came off his rubicon. They have 6100 miles on them. 1 is brand new. Gave $700 for all 5. Thought i was getting a deal. On the way home I stopped for fuel and was looking at them while pumping and saw load range C on them and immediately googled it and 6 ply came up. I immediately said a few cuss words. The size is lt285/70/17 load rating is 116/113. My truck is a 06 f250 crew cab 4x4. I dont haul or pull anything. Can I use these tires? I feel like a complete idiot, I always assumed that lt "light truck" always meant 10 ply. Lesson learned i guess.
IMO - yeah, they're fine to run as long as you're not overloading them. A 2021 F150 comes with LT265/70R17C tires and has a higher tow rating, load capacity, and even 5th wheel load rating than your F250. As long as you're not exceeding the load rating - you should be fine. The load rating is 2750 on these vs 3200 on the E rated version. So 5500lbs per axle and 11,000lbs total weight. The gross front axle rating is probably only around 5k lbs anyway. The base weight of your truck is probably something like 6500lbs and probably 4klbs front, 2500lbs rear axle. Unless you're putting another 1500lbs on the front axle or 3k lbs on the rear - you won't exceed the rated capacity. Just don't drop two yards of gravel in the bed.
