351 Stroker Build
I've been lying low for a couple years and am glad to be back with a new project!
Project is converting my 91' F150 (short bed, standard cab, 2WD, auto) into a 408 manual, to the tune of 500+ HP, in phases. Phase one is budget friendly first step.
1. 408 stroker bottom end
2. Convert to manual
3. Re-use as many 302 parts from previous build as possible, including a young M5R2 tranny, top end, and MAF EFI.
4. Re-use 410 limited slip rear end (Can't just let is sit on the shelf right?)
The build breakdown is below. I feel like I've covered MOST things, and would like to lay out for you all for open criticism and suggestions, do's and don'ts. Keep in mind the goal this phase is mainly the 408 bottom end, MAF, and manual conversion. I know I'm leaving alot of potential on the table, but I want to keep cost down while just getting on the road. I'm without a drivable truck for 2 years commuting in a damn hybrid!
Few notes:
Realize I'll have to baby the M5R2 a bit.
Realize cam is undersized.
Porting 351 lower to match 302 upper; worth the effort if will be upgraded in future?
19#/hr injectors are aftermarket performance so I can crank up pressure and tune.
Thanks,

If you weren't planning to do that just yet a 460 PCM and 24lb injectors might just get the motor running well enough for the time being. GT40 heads, that cam and a 408 bottom end is maybe 325hp and a BIG FRIGGEN MOUNTAIN of torque
, even with the stock intake parts bottlenecking it. The right intake for this motor is something like the TFS-R or even something with a box upper, torque won't be a problem with that bottom end so you don't need a long runner setup.
Yeah, I'm squared away with the EFI and MAF from my previous 302. I figured with the parts on hand and 408, it'd be a good start. I'll stick with 351 lower for now, porting the lower will keep me busy after I'm on the road.
If the MAF gives me too much trouble I'll change to something else in stage 2.
Thanks,
