Im deciding on what i should do. Currently with my 302, i want to put an edelbrock whole package on. I can put the perfomer on and id be happy, but if i convert my engine to a 347 stroker, i dont want to have to change the whole thing over. So if i put the RPM package on the 302 right now, it wouldnt make it run bad would it? Cause the stats show it still has good low end torque. The high hp just wont hit till 6500 rpms, which i wont get until i stroke it. Plus with my truck i need torque anyway. So if you guys know what will work best, that will be very helpful. Thanks
Danny
The 347 isn't going to give you more low end torque. You are never going to see 6500 RPM's and hold it long enough to use that power for long.
If you really want more torque, find a 351W. which is way better to build and almost has as many aftermarket parts for it.
it depends on what you want your truck for. If you plan on putting more than 20,000 miles on it, and you still want to have Torque, then you should get a 351W. 347's are not long-lived, and they consume oil like crazy. Some people may be able to build a 347 that is worth installing in a car, but it is extremely expensive because to make them last you must use a well-designed forged steel bottom end, and get a talented machinist to do the balance work. By the time you've put this thing together, you could have put a 351 together that will stomp a 347 into the dirt all day and have about $1,000 left over for other goodies. If you really want a stroker, put a stroker crank in a 351 (393 ci!!!). That would be some serious Torque, and it would last a heck of a lot longer than a 347. TK
