Highest trim/options that allow flatbed without issues?
So I'm currently shopping trucks and I've come to the conclusion that I want a flat bed. I've already looked in to the C&C models and between the derated engine and my insurance saying no we won't cover that I don't want to mess with it.
Only option I REALLY want is heated seats, but that requires a XLT with the Premium package and adds BLIS and the reverse sensors. Reverse sensors shouldn't be a problem if I get a setup that accommodates them but from what I'm reading the BLIS can be an issue.
I've found some posts that talk about 17 through 19 models where you just disable it, but I can't find anything on 20+ models. Still just as simple as disabling it? Have some flatbed makers figured out how to swap it to the flatbed and still work?
Other option of course being a XL and either adding heated seats via Katzkin or possibly even my buddies dad who does custom interior work or sourcing factory heated seats (if that even makes monetary sense).
The way I use trucks a flatbed just makes more sense. I really don't carry anything loose in the bed, and if I have to I can use a dump trailer. I would gladly enjoy not having to worry about crushing the tailgate or bed sides with goosenecks or a 5th wheel
Did you have any success with this? Went to order a f350Lariat today with the intention of putting a flatbed on it and ran into the sensors/BLIS issues. Salesman basically saidFord might have warranty issues if electronics messed with. No interest in chassis cab detuned engine, firmer suspension etc. Box delete isn’t great option with no spare (rather have two than none!), no jack. BLIS is a valuable safety feature and I’d like to keep it.
If seat heaters is all you're really after, I'd just get an XL or XLT and go the Katzkin route. Seat heaters are cheap, it's silly to buy a high trim level unless there are more options that you really want as part of the base building.
