Recently I had a few exhaust leaks so I fixed them and in the process I put in a new gas tank and sender unit in. The truck had been sitting for about 2 months not running, and when we went to fire it up it started but it won’t idle. When I give it gas it seems very laggy and it has more of a hissing sounds then usual and I can see a little bit of the gas shooting out the carb when you hit the throttle. What should I be looking for and what could the problem be? It’s a 1973 f100 automatic with a 360 5.9L
Where is the gas shooting out of the carb coming from? Accelerator pump? Bad situation there. That's a fire waiting to happen.
Lonco is right a lot of your problem sounds vacuum related. But get the carb checked out first.
