Fuel flow issue

1976 f-100 390

I’m having a fuel flow issue. I changed the fuel pump and filter.

If I let the truck sit for a few days, I cannot get the fuel to the carb without force feeding it through the lines with my shop vac.

It’ll then idle and drive fine until I put my foot to the floor and it will choke out so I always have to gradually speed up.

What are the solutions that may correct the fuel flow or would it perhaps be a separate issue I am missing?

Thank you

Sounds like some debris is plugging up the inlet to the needle and seat in the carb.

The sock filter in the tank might be clogged.

in addition to the above advice, you might have some dry-rotted rubber lines between the tank and the fuel pump inlet. One quick way to test is to put a rubber line from the fuel pump inlet into a gas can...if the issue persists, then the problem is between the fuel pump and carb...if it goes away the problem is from the fuel pump back to the tank.
