difficulty starting on a hill
My truck is a 1971, f100, sport custom, 360 with 4 speed granny, 2 bbl carb (autolite 2100).I've recently rebuilt the carb, and set the timing.
I'm having trouble starting my truck when it is parked on a hill..either facing uphill or downhill. It will start, but it will takes several long seconds of cranking before it does. If it it warmed up and on a hill it does better, but it still needs some cranking.
If the truck is parked on a flat surface it roars to life on the first turn of of the starter..either cold or warm. I've tried this many times.
What do you think is the problem? Could this be the float level or choke? I've set the choke to specs using the Ford Repair manual. It runs well after cranking...it is at an increased speed until it warms up and then idles down like its supposed to. If it is the float should I adjust it up or down? Or is it something like fuel lines and crud in the gas tank?
I've recently rebuilt the carb and have successfully set it to specs (with help from FTE). I've also set the timing correctly about 1 month ago. It has always started like this since I've owned it.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated greatly.

I did do one other thing and I'm not sure it makes a difference or not.
When I put in the new fuel pump I took out the steel fuel line from the carb to the pump and put in a rubber fuel line. I thought it would be better- more of a straight line and no bends and such. Do you think this might be something?
