I did my 3 U-joints and support bearing last weekend. The collar deal on the slip joint was basically disintegrated, and I needed a BFH and heat to get the joint apart.
So I cleaned it all and greased it when it went back together - and it slips again - but longer term: Can I get a new one of those zerk-collar-greaseamabobs to protect/re-grease the joint? I don't even know what they are called.
Not sure if they are even available. What I have done is buy one of those universal colored shock boots, and use wire ties to fasten it over the joint to keep the dirt and water out. You can then pack it with grease by hand. A lot of those joints don't even have grease fittings.

Thanks-
Just drill and tap for a grease zerk and grease at oil changes like your other zerks. Put the zerk in the same approx location as below. You really do not want the zerk on the collar anyway. And new collars and seals are available for most applications.
