Greasable (zerk) slip joint?

I have the driveshaft 'klunk' that I am 95% sure is a slip joint that needs grease. As much as I cant wait to tear it off and grease it, has anyone drilled and tapped the outer part to put on a small zerk fitting? I am a little concerned about imbalancing the driveshaft, so I am considering drilling 2 holes opposite of each other (12 o clock and 6 o clock) and putting on 2 zerk fittings, even though only one is needed. Am I reinventing the wheel here?
Thanks,
SP

I know someone has done it, I just cannot remember who.

I wonder if the weight of the material removed would be the same as the fitting negating the need for two...
