Gapping Points and Plugs 1970 F100

Spark gap timming
What not everyone has a Dwell meter?
Yes I would get one if you plan to keep points.
On that note replace the points with a Pertronix unit and never need to lean over the fender to set points again.
Other also claim the motor starts easier and runs better too.
Does you truck have the tune up spec on a sticker on the firewall or radiator support?
If so you can use that to set dwell & plug gap and be ok.
Also note yon set point gap then use the meter to set dwell as it will be off a little and why a meter is best to use.
Then set timing as changing point gap / dwell changes timing. BTW if you go with pertronix you will never have to set dwell or timing.
On the plugs dont go with any of the new fancy plugs stick to the old copper ones that the motor & IGN system was made to run with.
