How do I know which Alternator I have?
I have a 94 XLT with the 5.8L Engine. I know that in doing some reading, they said that ford switched over to the 3g alternators is 94. The one on my truck doesn't look like most of the 3g's that I've seen.

How can I tell which alternator I currently have?

External cooling fan is a 2G




Internal fan is a 3G




Side mount version 3G

Most likely the smaller 95 amp version.

My '93 5.8 2wd F150 had the 95a 3G as well. I wasn't sure what year they changed, but it had it since new.

the higher amp alternators have three holes in between the ribs and are pretty much plug and play except for a larger battery cable off of the alternator.

I just changed out my 2G 75Amp in my 94 F150 and replaced it with a 3G 95Amp. Here's some pictures..

side mounted 3G's started in 93 for the v-8 f series/ bronco.
95 amps stock
