New Equipment Trailer

I’ve got myself a new equipment trailer and tractor. The tractor is brand new but was broken right from the dealer, but that’s another story. Lol. I put a set of Sumo Springs on the truck and have a load distribution hitch on the trailer. The trailer is rated for 10,000 pounds. The setup right now is about 7500 pounds total including the trailer. . Does the tongue weight look good now, or should I back the tractor on for transport. Keep in mind, there will also be a 500 pound box blade sitting between the bucket and front wheels of the tractor. I know the tongue weight is suppose to be 10% of the weight, but I have no way to measure it exactly so I’ve put the heavier part of the tractor over the axles.

Thanks for any input.

I think the setup looks good. How does it handle? You can measure front fender height to ground and see how much if any it changes once hitched, Distribution hitch manufacturers recommend fender height should be the same or slightly less once distribution bars are chained up.

It handles good. I measured front fender, back fender and bumper. Less than a inch sag in the rear and only up 1/4 inch at the front fender. Thanks for the reply.

Overall, looks good. It kind of looks like it’s parked on an incline, though. If you’re going to put a box blade near the front, I would roll the tractor back about 6 inches, or so. Also, drop the backhoe bucket to the deck. It seems trailers ride the best when the truck is flat and the trailer has a very slight lift, on the tongue. VERY small amount. This helps keep the tail from wagging the dog.
