The wife and I decided in the beginning of this past summer that we would like to get a travel trailer/5th wheeler . So I was looking at trailers and specs and researching and first thing I decided was my 2013 F150 CC would not be a good choice to tow with , specifically the yellow tag that stated 1270lbs cargo and passenger capacity . We started looking at f250's and 350's . Diesel or gas , didn't make much difference as we don't plan on traveling extremely far or drive in mountains much . We ended up finding a used 2019 F250 XLT 4x4 CC SB 6.2 gasser with 17000 miles at a good price in great shape and the dealer that had it gave a good price for my F150 so we grabbed it . We pretty much have our sights set on a Grand Design 150 Series 290BH (we have 3 young grandsons with us permanently so a bunkhouse made sense) , UVW: 8,236 lbs | GVWR: 10,195 lbs | Hitch Weight: 1,280 lbs . The payload capacity on the F250 is 3270lbs , quite a bit more than a diesel F250 specked similarly and almost as much as a diesel f350 SRW specked similarly . Once I had the truck I started looking at 5th wheel setup and I personally just likes the Ford Prep Pkg better than all the other offerings available so I started hunting for one . They are not easy to find , most dealers around me don't even want to talk about them and won't even quote any installation prices . I finally found one , part # hc3z-5f057-b , had it shipped half way across the country and here's how it showed up .
Top of the box is ripped open , UPS driver said "big items don't ship well" also said he can't take it back or wait until I check contents . I was livid .
My F250 has the inner L Brackets already welded on the frame (from factory) so I only needed the hardware , main cross member and outer L brackets , here's what was inside the box .
The main cross member , all the hardware , one inner L bracket and one outer(left side) L bracket . The weather door for the inbed 7 pin plug was also missing .
At this point I was really besides myself , this cost a good penny and shipping was not cheap . I emailed the dealer on a Friday afternoon and stewed all weekend .
Thanks fellas , I would have continued the thread earlier but had to wait on moderator approval of my posts , All is good now , dealer found an outside right L bracket and sent that and a new wiring harness kit .I installed it all last week , came out great .

A little bit on the install of the prep pkg . I did it by myself outside of my 11 year old grand son putting in and removing 4x4 blocks between the frame and pickup body while I did the lifting . The hardest part of the whole job was tightening down the inner L bracket bolts , the bolts were pre smeared with locktite . Also I was very thankful to have a 24" long torque wrench . The body removal and reinstall went smooth , even sliding the main cross member across the frame without causing any issues was smooth . Hole sawing the bed was a cinch especially with the factory dimples . The trim rings were a bit of a pain to get on but not too bad . The inbed wiring harness took about 30 minutes . Overall I was hesitant when I first decided to go with the Prep Pkg on the install but am glad I did it myself , it was a much easier job than I thought it would be . Tomorrow it goes to get a Line-X spayed in liner .
You are supposed to use new bed bolts, in case you weren't aware.
Yes , I was aware that Ford recommends new bed bolts be used , I used the old ones , blue locktite and torqued to specs . I have seen where lots of folks used the old bolts with no issues , also seen where new bolts were used . I have not seen anything on bed bolt failure but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen . I'll keep an eye on them and if I have any problems I'll change them out for new .
