I am trying to list an automotive item on eBay and have a question. I know, eBay is evil and no one likes the place but I've tried other avenues to sell this item and I haven't gotten any interest and I want the item gone. I also know a lot of people here sell on eBay even if they don't want to admit it. I haven't sold on eBay in a long time and every time I had sold they change their policies and rules to make it a worse place. Now they are using a "Selling Limits"? I tried to list my item at $350 and I get a red warning, "This listing would cause you to exceed the amount you can list. You can list up to $10.00 more in total sales this month. Please consider reducing the starting price or request to list more." I tried to find out what this is all about but like most big internet web company they don't have a contact phone number to talk to a real live person. I don't do well emailing back and forth, I want my questions answered now, not two hours from now.
Just wondering if any eBay knowledgeable members can explain what they are doing. In the past I never had a problem listing an item for any price.
It seems you have been limited as eBay has probationary restrictions on those with new eBay accounts or those new to selling, or those who have not sold in a while on eBay. eBay does not have an incoming phone number, but they do have a request callback feature available through their help system on the website (when signed in) that I have found them to respond to in a very timely fashion (seconds to minutes).
I have sold a lot on eBay in the past so I'm not a new seller. I looked around eBay for help but couldn't find a phone number and I hate conversing via emails and automated help features. If I could have found a number and been able to contact a live person I would have but I figure I could get better, more polite responses from some experience eBay users here.
Bob, I didn't not intend to ruffle your feathers. I can't change ebay's policies or methodologies. However, I did point you how to get them on the phone and point you to their seller limitations help page with a button to request an increase. Not sure what else you can realistically expect...
Lately I have been pushed to my limit with tech. In the last two weeks I have had problems with software for three programs I use for my business. I have called all three companies with little help to resolve my issues, Now I want to do something I've done numerous times in the past and cannot find a solution. I have taken your advice and checked the links, no help. I've typed with one of eBays experts who gave me answers that didn't work. The reason I came to FTE with my question is because the members here are well versed in many different things and I figured I could get an answer here from someone who might have run into the same problem. I also feel safe to assume many people here use eBay to sell their Ford truck parts.
Ebay is on the way out. Hopefully something new will come around soon. I've been selling things locally on OfferUp and I like the platform. I haven't bothered selling via mail because they charge you.
I just sold a bunch of stuff on ebay and I received a bill from ebay for like $90. They charge like 12% plus tax to sell things. Now they want me to link my bank account instead of using paypal. I'm not doing that.
After randomly clicking links on the eBay site I stumbled upon a link to request they call me because someone hacked my account. No one did but it was the only link that I found that seemed like I could get some action out of. They called back and the rep checked my account and didn't see any restrictions, I could post up to a thousand items up to $5K in value. He told me to click the "List Item" on my listing and it posted with no problem. I wasted an hour doing just that.
I didn't think of Offerup. I've seen it advertised on TV. I listed this item on a couple of different places and just want it gone. I also don't want to give it away because it was part of a deal I bought last week that turned out not to be what I wanted so I need to recoup some of my money on the deal that went wrong. It is a set of panel truck seats for another, ahem, brand of truck and like seats for our panels, I know they are rare and worth probably more than I'm asking.
I see a lot of stuff being sold on Market Place which through Facebook another even more evil empire. But like has been suggested there are some of the newer listing sites give them a try. Also if you join the Early Ford V8 club they have a classified section that will go out nationally through the magazine and their website. There is also a Ford Truck 48-56 facebook group that sells stuff. I can give you the link if you like, but you have to join that group. I go on there once in a very long while.
Since some of you asked the facebook group is called .. 1948-1952 Ford F-1 Parts For Sale Or Trade. Its not a private group as I had thought it is Public.

I had this item listed on numerous FB pages and Market Place, didn't get any responses. It's a non-Ford part so none of the Ford places would want it on their pages.

Have you updated your seller account? Unless you update the restrictions will be in place. Once Ebay dumped PayPal about two months ago this impacted all sellers. Payments are now handled through eBay.
eBay dumped PayPal? I still have buyers pay me via PayPal. Explain please.
A buyer can still pay you with PayPal or they can use another direct source of funding directly through Ebay. You as a seller no longer have the ability to use PayPal to receive payments.
