3 of 4 of my chrome 20’s are starting to peel from the edges. Stock chrome package wheels for 17-19. I have just noticed this in the last couple months and wipe wheels down after washing so I do keep track of them. Southern truck, always keep grime and brake dust cleaned off, no unusual cleaners used. Anyone else see this issue? Or, know of a good source for factory take offs or replacement? I googled around and saw several but in stock and prices varied. I’d really like to keep stock look and functionality for wear and tear on driveline components, bearings etc. thanks.
Happens to a lot of people. Most say a tire shop damaged them. Many replaced under warranty. If mine ever need replacing I'm going back with the "Sparkle Painted" wheels. No chrome plate and I personally think they look just as good.
On edit: Just realized this is an apple v orange moment as my wheels will be 18" and thus a totally different animal. What they have in common is chrome doesn't stick to aluminum very well.
Still, though, I'd go back with a different wheel.
I did suspect possible tire shop damage. Although it’s only had one tire change about 15k miles ago or about 2 years for me. Tire shop is my regular for over 10 years and they are always super careful as they know I’m picky. Knowing that the finish was sprayed on already had me skeptical but I really like the stock wheel look on mine with the color and chrome package. May look at aftermarket options stock size or close, not really wanting to go above 8.5 wide.
When I traded my F-150 in the dealer wanted to knock 1 k off the trade because of chipped pvd coating on the wheels. I would not get wheels with that coating again too easily damaged.
Chrome PVD wheels, like my 18’s do peel. In my case still under warranty all 4 replaced. Had new tires put on by dealer specifically so they would need to address. The tire literally peeled the chrome on the bead both sides, every rim, almost entirely. They were on for 3 years, 40,000 km originals.
Thanks for the feedback. Was looking for same in takeoffs but if this is an issue with these wheels I may look for some other stock 20 inch options or go aftermarket. Mine is out of warranty.
I had a 2006 Explorer with the chrome PVD wheels that were chewed up by the CO winters and salt. My neighbor had a 2014 F-150 and his wheels were shot in 2 years. I steered clear of the chrome package on my 2019 order. I like the wheels, but they just don't weather well where I live. It's definitely a YMMV option that people really need to consider before purchase ... if you're in an area that uses any road salt, then take a hard pass on the chrome wheels.

Makes you wonder if some sort of penetrating oil could be sprayed on the bead the day before a tire change to help the tire release from the rim? Worth a shot I guess.
