Depends on the type of printer, I have one like most people would have (FDM) Fused Deposition Modeling where it lays down a thin layer of material as it builds. This type leaves striations albeit very minute, and would not make for a good lens. It'll allow light thru but it'll be extremely diffused. Example below.
I printed this Next Generation warp core model completely with a 3d printer, I used clear filament for the lit up sections and as you can see the light is diffused greatly.
