got a 01 7.3. chip works on high idle. no power gains on any levels. sent chip back. they said it's good. I've installed several chips so pcm is clean. I even switched pcm with another one of same code. still no difference. tried another chip and switch also. I'm lost. truck runs fine just chip isn't doing anything. has 135k miles on it. any ideas? thanks
so now I've tried 3 pcms. still same just high idle. one pcm was used but never had chip on it had to clean it. another one was a reman one. I even switched idm. no help. I put a pcm out of an automatic and a ts chip and truck responds to settings. I put original one back in removed chip and downloaded a program. truck responds. so as of now guy is driving it with programmer on it. truck has had chip on it for years just one day it started acting funny
Still strange, but it is not unheard of for electronics or electrical devices to have a mind of their own at times. I used to say they were worse than a teenager because at least a teenager is capable of feeling remorse.
There is one common failure point or part I see in your posts.
