On my 2021 F-350 I noticed the heat shield located underneath truck (between driver side floor board and transmission) is a 5 inch tear. Is there a particular tape to use to patch over the tear?

Exactly^
Why would you fool with it on a new truck unless you were the one to mess it up?
And, even then I'd be inclined to try and get it fixed under warranty anyway.

I was looking at it from a time and convenience perspective. The time it takes for me to place a piece of tape over the tear compared to dropping off truck first thing in morning and waiting for it to be repaired. I don't know the cause of the tear but I did see a few other taped areas on heat shield on both sides of transmission. I noticed the tear while I was using a microfiber cloth and soapy water underneath truck to remove any dirt/salt residue before rust proofing it with Fluid Film. The truck has about 1,100 miles on it.

If that was my truck and I didn't want to take it in, I would look at using something from Heat Shield Products. I've used their stuff on three different vehicles.
