I don't think our trucks have a MAF sensor. If you’re talking about that sensor that sticks into the side of the stock airbox, that’s the IAT sensor. Just zip tie it somewhere close to the air filter.
Are you talking about the air intake temperature sensor? Mine is an E99 so there may have been changes and we're talking about 2 separate things. Either way at first I had mine plumbed in to the pvc collar I used between the filter and stock hose. I didn't like how tight it was pulling the wires so when I swapped the collar to a 45 I just laid it under the filter as close as convenient to the ait intake. Seems fine so far.
I taped a small piece of open ended black PVC on mine to protect it and zip tied it under the fuse box under the hood. I'll see if I can remember to grab a picture for you tomorrow when I start to finish the turbo swap.
The IAT may be a few degrees off in that location, but I thought the look was cleaner and like udsuth78 said, the wire is not very long. Been good to go for thousands of miles and 2 years.
When I switched to the 6637 and unhooked the temp sensor, I tucked it between the 2 relays for 4wd to get it out of the way. In my enthusiasm to hear that spinning turbo, I forgot all about it. to It has been there ever since - no zip tie, duct tape, or clamp. I figure if it has held there for 5 years or so without assistance, then it was meant to be there.
