How much cab to camper clearance do most of you guys run? From Jefe4x4's pic it don't look like he runs very much. Could be the angle of the pic I guess.
I have 4.5" at the tightest spot, a bit more towards sides, etc.
IMO, this is more than necessary. I've not seen the camper come anywhere close to cab going through flexy spots such as entering steep parking lot entrance at angle.
I have about 3" with marker lights and still no problem.

Hey Steve-
Is your 3" to the top of cab, or marker lights? I'm leaning towards dropping (next) camper to about 3" from cab, but that will leave me pretty close to top of lights. I figure worst case, I might crack a light...
When I got my camper, I had about 1” above the lights and on really rough road the camper would hit a light so I spaced it up to about 3” above the cab (not the marker lights) and now I am thinking about dropping it some. I am sure I have way more than I need. I can measure it in the morning and give you an exact.
when it bounced off a light it only broke one light bulb, no other damage.
2020 F350 SRW with an AF 865. It sits on a rubber bed mat only. I have been on some rough roads, enough to actually feel like maybe the camper bounced pretty good, it has never hit. About 1-1 1/2" clearance at the antennas.

Ironically on Friday I watched another TC with about 1" of clearance, while at a stand still, but the cabover was clearly "tapping" on his roof as he was driving. That would drive me nuts.
I know Northern Lite recommends 2-3" of clearance. On my setup, I achieved that with 3/4" horse stall mats as a base and then a 3/8" standard rubber bed mat on top.
When I first got my camper, with just the 3/8" bed mat, I slapped the top of my truck with the camper and that is why I added the horse stall mats as a base. It has not happened since adding the horse stall mats.

I have never slapped the cab on any SD I have owned and had 2 truck campers that rode in the bed. Then the Ford SD has the highest cab in the big 3. WHY? Ford designed the SD Cab to be able to wear a cowboy hat in and I can attest to that. Ford did it because its was a Texas thing and it put them on the map at the biggest seller of trucks in Texas and as Texas goes on trucks so does the US!

LOL! That's awesome. So they really should have called them a "Ford TX cab"!
.....Mind you, that might lead to a "Ford Woke150" with a "SB(Soy Boy) cab" for California given their edible engine parts. It'll be a doorless crew cab for those that need to prove to their soc media followers they wouldn't dream of actually driving a truck.
