Hello, anyone put a warranty of their Diesel truck? if so who and how much? I couldn't find anything in search.

had a quote from zeigler for 8 years 100 k miles 2700.00
for us 100k is good, we just traded our 16 expedition that i owned for 5 years from new and it had 39800 miles on it.
my dealer beat it at 8yrs 100k and added enhanced rental, pick up, key and interior/exterior lamps and 1st day rental 100 deduct for 2600.00
i do by default have some same coverage with coach net and my insurance. coachnet will bring fuel, change a tire, tow and a few other items (coachnet covers our BUS, both cars and hauler trailer, plus wheel replacement and new tire if needed) tire part has paid for itself more than once with tires on the hauler trailer letting loose in hot summer under heavy load
my insurance has a free rider that does fuel, tire change and tow and rental for 30 days, not to exceed 60 in case of accident.

on my 2010 i had similar coverages and used all 3 at same time when we were stranded out in boonies . .

 

Watch out, there are extended service plans, Ford is the only option, and there are extended warranties, Ford and aftermarket, really look closely what they are selling you.
I have both an extended service plan to 200,000 Km, 8 years, as well as an aftermarket Extended Warranty for same. The warranty doesn't come into place until each other peice of Ford warranty expires at 60,000 Km, 100,000 Km(Engine and Emissions). At 72,000 my extended warranty paid for itself with one new steering wheel because I have active steering so a $4000 wheel(CDN Funds)

My service plan, on track to pay for itself handily as well. A diesel oil changes, oil and fuel filters, DEF, Engine Air Filter, ect, its a no brainer in my opinion. Though I do miss doing this myself, where it pays is transmission fluids, diffs, brakes, transfer cases are big money that is covered. Just have to have a plan that will cover all this.

 

Just to clarify for others reading this thread, in the US;
What you are referring to as an extended warranty is actually called a service plan. Ford's names theirs Extended Service Plan (ESP).
What you are referring to as a service plan is actually called a maintenance plan.

 

My 2021 F350 KR SRW Ultimate is on an accepted order, build week of May 10. Buying from McMullen Ford in Iowa. I asked the salesman during negotiation for a seven year hundred thousand mile Ford warranty. His email quoted "A $100 deductible 7 year 100000 total mile service contract (Ford product!) is $2350.00. "

Then on the purchase order which I put a $5000 deposit down on, it is handwritten: "$2,200 84 month 100,000 Ford Warranty"

In light of this conversation, what do I have in my contract, and what do I have yet to buy? I would like to buy it from Ford.

That is a huge deposit, was it your choice or dealer request?

Sounds like you need to have a talk with the dealer to clarify what level of warranty you would be paying for and if that includes any additional items. Such as, bulb coverage, first day rental, key service. If I was buying that truck it would be with the Premium care ESP and bulb coverage.

The price you were qouted is a couple hundred higher than I've seen from some of the go to online sources.

 

If you purchase a Ford ESP warranty it starts from the in service day of your truck or car. This is exactly what the Flood Ford ESP plan rep said. Your not getting 8 years on top of the factory 100,000k on the Diesel engine or factory 60,000k power train factory warranty.

Let’s say you purchase an ESP six months after you purchase your new trucks in service date. You get 2.5 yrs of that plans coverage not 3 additional years. You can trust Ford is not loosing money on these service plans. Ask questions and read the fine print before you buy any ESP plan.

The Ford Flood ESP rep also said that the 3/36 factory warranty has more comprehensive coverage than any Ford ESP he sells.

 

That is typical for all extended warranties whether you are buying a truck or a toaster. The warranty coverage starts on the first day of service and kicks in after the manufacturer's warranty ends or it may cover things the manufacturer's warranty does not. For the Ford ESP, coverage during the first 3/36 can include things like free towing and loaner vehicle, LED lights (optional) and key fob replacement (optional).

The Ford ESP Premium Care is very comprehensive. I didn't find anything I'm concerned about that isn't covered. But it sounds reasonable that a factory 3/36 warranty would provide more coverage than a warranty that extends out to 8 years. Some of the shorter warrantied items, such as paint and interior fabric/trim, are not covered by the Ford ESP.

Agreed, Ford is not losing money on these plans. My insurance company doesn't lose money on my home and auto policies either. The Ford ESP is just another way to manage financial risk with owning an expensive, complicated electronic/mechanical system. The ESP is a personal choice that depends on level of risk aversion and the ability to cover the cost of future repairs.

 

You don’t get 8 years of warranty, your essentially are buying 3 additional years if you have a 5 year 100k warranty on a diesel and power train.
That is where most buyers get confused. Ford’s bean counters are counting on you never having to use it after the 3/36 warranty expires.

Good info guys thanks! what about service plan? I haven't owned a dsl in 15 years, how much is a service these days?

The Works service, which includes oil, tire rotation, DEF and multi point inspection runs around $110 I think, maybe as low as $100. I actually haven't paid the dealer for an oil change so I could be off. Fuel filters I'm guessing are a couple hundred to have done at the dealer.

I'm not familiar with the maintenance plans, what they cost or how they compare to just paying as you go.
