Thoughts on buying a 7year/100k warranty with premium care?

The factory powertrain warranty is 5yr/60k miles. I've had the Ford ESP on several vehicles and I always ended up using it. Albeit perhaps not as much as it costs but, if you plan on keeping the truck for 7 years and not going more than 100K miles it's nice piece of mind.

Yeah you have to read the fine print to see where it shows that you have a 100k mile warranty on the diesel components.....so that is why I was wondering if its a waste of money to really buy an extended warranty to 100k since the diesel components still are under warranty just don't want to waste my money.....

Love the truck you got there. I have the exact color scheme in the F-250

It isnt the motor I am worried about, it is everything else. Plus trans is only 60k. Now with even more electronics in the 17s.. I would. Especially with getting them at near cost, it is a lot easier to justify.

plus all the DEF stuff isn't covered under the motor warranty. Tank heater, pump, injector etc.

Off of fords website:

and exhaust manifolds, timing gear, harmonic balancer, valve covers, oil
pan and pump, water pump, fuel system (excluding fuel lines, fuel tank
and frame mounted fuel conditioning module sometimes referred to as
the frame mounted pump/filter/water separator or frame mounted fuel
filter/water separator), high pressure lines, gaskets and seals, glow plugs,
turbocharger, two-stage turbocharger assembly, turbocharger actuator,
11
powertrain control module, high pressure fuel injection pump assembly,
injectors, injection pressure sensor, fuel rail pressure sensor, exhaust
back pressure regulator and sensor, exhaust pressure sensor, manifold

I'm not so worried about the diesel when getting the warranty. I'm worried about the seats, the mirrors, the headlamps, the sync system, the dash display, and the rear diff and transfer case. Those things are big ticket items and hurt if you have to replace them in year 4, 5, 6 or 7

A replacement mirror that fails is over a grand.

I agree with the others. With everything computer controlled, you have to protect yourself from a bad sensor/chip/wire leaving you in limp mode, stranded on the shoulder, out in the rain with no wipers, sweltering/freezing because the HVAC controls don't respond, or looking at a dead dashboard with only the few manual controls available. Get the longest, most comprehensive coverage you can afford.

I would not get the longest out there. Get the one that matches your mileage and years. If you are doing 10,000 miles a year, then a 100k warranty at 8 years is a waste.

I used to do 20k a year on my 07 but when I got my 15, I inherited a camry for free that was a 04 with 42,000 miles (about 2 years ago). So now I use that as my commuter.. so I figured 12,500 a year at 8 years puts me at 100k. No reason to go with the 125k or 150k as I'm just paying more for something that will expire year wise. I went with a 8yr, 100k. As of now I have 29k so I'm averaging less then 10k a year now.

Figure out what you do per year, multiply that by the term and if you are close, round up 1 interval to be safe.
