Headlights

I have a 2014 XLT, I broke a headlight housing. So I thought it's a good time to get some after market projectors. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Stock HID are about the best you can get, very expensive though. Next best thing is what they sell over at the retrofit source https://www.theretrofitsource.com/as...ght-assemblies Not bad looking lights either.

Get the stock hid lights, they perform the best.

Thanks, for the ideas. I really want chrome housings. I'm not sure what I would need to do to use the factory HIDs.

In order to run oem HID lamps you need the harness conversion kit that makes them plug-n-play. I went that route with my 2013 XLT.

Pic of my truck after the oem HID conversion.

Does anyone have any experience with these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Anzo-USA-11...wAAOSwHQVfVfOq
I like the look, definitely not the cheapest, but still in budget.

With headlights, you get what you pay for. All you're paying for are the looks, you won't be able to see squat at night, they're halogen.

To give an update on this. I went with the Alpharex Lux lights, big mistake. The lights looked decent, but not great, a definite drop in quality from factory. They had pretty good light output, but sharp cutoffs. I could see street signs great at a distance, but as I got closer the lights wouldn't hit them. The big problem was the right turn signal kept hyperflashing. So I got FORSCAN and found bad ground right turn in the BCM. I could clear it but it just returned. Long story with customer service and finally they sent a shipping label. They have had the lights back for weeks but won't refund my money. Anyway I should have listened and went factory or nothing.

Honestly, it depends on what you really want from your lights. If you go with LED's or projector style headlights you're going to have a sharp cut off line regardless. One thing to keep in mind too is that although the OEM headlights shouldn't be adjustable from left to right...aftermarket ones are and I found that out the hard way when I was able to spot an owl in a tree and a deer in a field.

I went with a smoked set of these since I kind of liked the LED bars that give a S550 look. They work really well compared to the stock halogens. Keep in mind. The OEM halogens don't provide many lumens and many on the retrofit page have been tested and don't provide any improvement even over the OEM halogen bulbs. They have a few videos on Youtube testing products they sell and honestly it's embarrassing IMO that they would sell such products that are far more expensive than many other businesses and they don't offer any improvement over stock.

I presume that payment was made by credit card? If so, contact the card and ask for their help. They'll get your money back to you....

Thanks for the replies. Yes I paid by credit card, because of the length of time that they drug this out, it got out of the cards guaranty. But Discover is working on trying to get a refund. I just dealt with a bad company and bad distributor, lesson learned.
