So Napa labeled DEF does not come with a spout? What’s special about a Ford spout? The one that came with the Blue fit my truck just fine.

spout is built in such a way as to prevent overfilling. That is it.

The problem with truck stops is the diesel is usually more.

I get a big discount with my efs fuel card through the company.

Walmart DEF(just as good as any out there) is $6.98 plus tax for a 2.5 gallon jug, sales tax here is 8.25%, so that adds 58 cents, so $7.56 total, or $3.02 per gallon.
Last DEF I bought at the flying j truck stop was $3.19 a gallon(recently had price increase from $2.99), and of course the pump price includes tax.
Now, sometimes you may run across a truck stop that has lower DEF prices, but never have I seen any price that was only $1.50 a gallon, so definitely not half price at the truck stop compared to walmart DEF.

One caveat, walmart is bad about taking returns without checking, so sometimes unscrupulous people will buy DEF, use it and return the jugs filled with tap water, then walmart just puts them back on the shelf.
SO, ALWAYS CHECK THE SEAL ON THE JUGS BEFORE YOU BUY!!!
I had that happen to me with a five-quart Pennzoil jug I bought at Wal-Mart back in the day before the manufacturers started putting foil on them. Went to dab my finger to lube the oil filter gasket and found black used oil in the jug I bought off the shelf! Took it back that day and the guy at WM told me they'd seen a lot of that...so sad that some cheap miscreants couldn't care less about how their actions impact others...GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I don't tow. I don't do any heavy hauling. My truck spends most of its life sitting in the driveway. The DEF in my tank is what the factory put in there back in February 2018. I'm down to a bit over a half a tank. I've never even taken the cap off the tank. I'm sure that when I trade it in a couple years from now, that DEF will still be in the tank. I can't imagine what mileage has to do with DEF. Sounds like some Internet experts just makin' stuff up.
I have to ask what you use your truck for? Certainly none of my business but genuinely curious.

Even if the price per gallon was the same and it's never been even close I will always buy at the truck stop lanes. No muss no fuss. Put in the tank what I need. No empty jugs, boxes, leftover def, etc.
With the way my 21 is guzzling the def I will be looking more closely into this going forward.

I buy most of my DEF at the truck stop since I also buy most of my fuel at the truck stop, so getting my DEF there is just lots more convenient.
But, price-wise, the walmart DEF is about a wash, and for those who don't frequent truck stops, or buy their fuel there, it is fine.

How do you know how much DEF to pump while at the truck stop?

When the nozzle clicks off, you're done!

You do have to go slow on the pump though or you'll get back flow and a mess of DEF all over the side of your truck.

Just like filling up with fuel.

I am the most hated type on this forum. I ordered my truck exactly how I wanted it. And I wanted a diesel pickup. Many on this forum have great disdain for those who drive a diesel because of want, not need. I can live with it. Other than some hauling that I do from time to time, I could do just as good with a Chevy Bolt electric. But that's not what I wanted.

I have bought DEF at the pump twice I think. The last time it made a mess. I think the pump was broken. Next time I'll listen for it to get full. Otherwise, I don't mind filling it with the 2.5 gallon jugs.

I don't hate you.. I ordered my truck exactly how I wanted it too. Coming from a tired K2500 Diesel Suburban I wanted another diesel but with more power. F250 Superduty fit that bill. I'm more of a wanted a diesel vs needed a diesel too. There are a few of us out here! We differ when it comes to the Chevy Bolt electric. Not something I will ever see in my garage..
