Ok fellas. I added .003 pinion head shims and I've got minimum backlash. comments? I shimmed the pinion head cause the pattern was running to close to the face.
I dunno, I don't hate the drive side pattern. Are you applying some drag to the ring gear with one hand while turning the pinion with the other? I only ask 'cause the pattern seems crisp on some but hazy on others
had good grip on ring gear with gloved hand and ran it around 5 or 6 revolutions with deawalt drill on low speed. I got a new tin of pattern grease but used some left over and did notice the older grease was not as soft.

If it was just at the low I'd be inclined to run it. You will get some initial wear as the gear set laps together. The patterns look centered in all directions....maybe a tad high on the drive on closer look.
These are on a D60...they run quiet. Drive side Coast side
