2010 Expy A/C compressor replacement...

This is a dup post just to make sure I get the right eyes on my particular project. It is as follows:

So the A/C compressor in our Expedition is done. I "had" a Chilton or a Haynes manual for it but moved 5 years ago and now it's MIA. Getting a Chilton manual delivered in a few days.

Hoping someone can point me maybe to another thread that may have covered this (or just post their experiences here). I know there are several other parts that must be changed in addition to the compressor to make sure the parts warranty is valid. We use Advance Auto parts.

We have a 2010, 225,000 miles. V8. She runs good. Touch of blue smoke on a cold start up but a good dependable ride. My father-in-law is an HVAC guy and a great mechanic who will assist in the repair. In addition to the above requested tips, if there are any pitfalls or gotcha's I need to watch out for I'd be darn grateful to hear.

Thanks in advance.

Call your part seller and ask for THEIR specifics regarding warranty requirements. Typically, the accumulator and the metering device are minimum requirements.

By "Expy", are your referring to an Explorer or an Expedition? Both have been referred to by that nickname.

As far as other parts, that depends on the nature of the failure of the original compressor. You may find that you also need to replace the condenser due to debris in it that cannot be flushed out.

Good copy on all. It’s a V8 expedition EL.
