Compressor manufacturers & resellers-- good, bad, OK?

I need to buy a new compressor. If I look at the Rock Auto site, they offer the following brands-- GPD (Global Parts Distributors), Four Seasons, Spectra Premium, and of course Motorcraft.

There are others such as discountacparts.com, DensoProducts.com and I'm sure several more.

Are there any I should run from? Any I should go to first? Does Motorcraft make their own compressor or is there some other primary supplier that I can go to since Motorcraft is priced far above the others?

Thanks in advance,

CR

Many of the Reciprocating A/C compressors like the FS-6, FS-10, 10PA17 were made by NipponDenso ("Denso", now) for Ford. And they are still being built by Denso in Mexico, available through distrubutors/retailers, rockauto sells some of those.

But for the vehicle I think you are working on, some of the parts look-ups say it is a scroll compressor, and it looks different. Have seen Sanden mentioned, it could well be one of their scroll compressors.

Take a look at sanden.com --> products --> scroll compressors - TRSA series

Thanks guys. Looking more closely at my shop manual, the compressor is identified as an "SC115" scroll compressor. A google search indicates the OEM is likely Visteon. The visteon web site did not list this PN or any resellers. Not being able to do an end run around Motorcraft to the OEM, I ordered a compressor, expansion valve and drier from discountACparts.com. Price for the kit with free shipping was $255. Hopefully I did not get bit by my attraction to the "value" pricing and sacrifice quality. The parts come with a 12 month warranty. However, the original parts lasted 10 years, so we will see.
