I have a 1975 Ford F250 Trailer Special and I was working on the ignition system it was starting by rolling the key forward and jumping on the solenoid with a screwdriver. But after replacing the solenoid and battery cables the starter wont even crank what are some possible problems. All of the replacement parts are from LMC Truck.
dead battery, bad new parts, installed incorrectly, etc...do you have a multi-meter, it will go a long way with telling you where the problem is...much more accurate than someone making guesses..
you really need a test light or multi-meter to see if you have 12 volts on the starter side of the solenoid. Just because it's clicking doesn't mean the contacts inside the solenoid are making contact. If you have 12 volts on the starter lug, then you need to figure out if the voltage is making it to the starter. Does the starter turn over if you short both large lugs on the solenoid together?
