So currently i have the front end taken off my 94 F150 and was thinking about how i like the front end off the early 80’s model better... so i started thinking 🤔 what if i just get the 84 fenders and radiator support to change my front end to look more like a classic with a little newer modern interior and drive train... would it be too different? Ive always just assumed they were close to bolt on components/easy swap...
I always liked the bull nose trucks but this is not something I would do, since the fender styles would then not match with the rear unless you want to change the bed as well.
I didn't change to that style, but I went from an 88 front end on the 88 F-150 I picked up to a 92-96 style. I imagine going from a 92-96, to an 80-86 front end would be similar.
I had to change the fenders, radiator support, hood, cowl, and bumper. Also, the bumper mounting from the 92-96 is not the same as the 80s due to the frame horns being designed differently, so you'll need custom mounts to get an older bumper to mount properly.
That aside, I agree with My4FordTrucks that the 92-96 (or 97 f250/350) body style is the best looking. I think the 80-86 is pretty close though. But yeah that's just my opinion so don't let that stop you! As TexasGuy001 said though, the fender wheel wells won't match if you do change the front, so you'd also want to change the bed which makes this project get a bit more pricey.
