Well I thought now is as good a time as any to start myself a build thread since I’m just about to order my efuel. This what’s known as “white trash” around town. Most my Cummins and 6.0 buddy’s just say it because my “slow” 7.3 can do just as much as them
this is her at the start of it all. 9/18/19
some kid buying his first diesel and the exact one I was looking for. A late OBS 7.3 4 door long bed with a hand shaker and 4x4 and not known at the time 3.55 gears which is what I was hoping for as well. 378,000 miles no air conditioning because the last guy decided to take it off (for some reason) I’m fairly certain original injectors which were pretty worn and a ts chip which saved me $140 at the time. All for $3250 and a 4 hour drive. Of course the first thing was an oil change air filter and changed tranny fluid.
Next was a few cosmetic tweaks. Painted wheels and side trim because I didn’t have the time to debadge the sides with work at the time. My grandpa is a retired body man for over 50 years so we did some sand blasting on the wheels and got to spraying. We didn’t do a super professional job because I planned to change them in the future and I think now I might have some lined up but for now I still have the old ones I couldn’t resist the back window sticker!
Also wanted to change the “ORD” on he back so I just did a little custom work there. Future plans for the tailgate as well so just a quick clean up job
For the tailgate, I'd rather drive an ORD than a YO
No joke lol and thank you!

already got full force diesel 180ccs. Apologies I should’ve started this in the evening when I could do he whole thing at once but I had some time this morning before work so I figured I’d start it up.
this will be a couple more pages but I’ll have it done by tonight for sure.
After those I got my tax return and got myself a Kc300x stage 1 turbo. 63/70 .84 AR housing. MUCH better spooling and 30 psi as opposed to the 20 with the stock turbo. These are on stock injectors and my ts chip. Once I get to the injectors that number goes up to 40
And a few more cosmetic things. An old friend and I made some shifters out of antlers and that turned out amazing. I told him we’d have to paint the truck next so it doesn’t look so bad around them!then wrapped the rest in some “rustic twine” from big R Also always loved the look of the new powerstroke badges so I got some black and white ones
Now to my favorite part! Cold starts were sucking and drivability was getting worse and worse so I started reading on this sight. Most people I saw had either 160/0 or 160/30 so I thought I’d go a little different. I wanted the stage 1.5 180/30 but my budget didn’t allow the extra $ at the time so I got full force diesel 180/0 from Riffraff with a hydra with 1023 tubes for modified injectors. Here I am in the hot tune working some oil out of the cylinders
the difference was incredible!! Once I saw 40 psi on that gauge no one was taking the smile off my face for a few days. Power was way sooner and sooo much more and ever since I have nothing bad to say about them. I also did glow plugs at the same time
Have you done valve springs yet? You might run into valve float at those PSI levels specially on high mileage clapped out springs.
they are on the list. I’m a little nervous about doing them having never done them before with the shimming to the right height and the compression tool but I do know they need done so I’ll have to just suck it up and do it. Hopefully this summer. Without them I try not to get to that number too often. I plan to do some 910s
Not sure when these line up in the timeline so I’ll just throw them all in. I did motor craft shocks shortly after purchasing the truck. I do not recommend them. I will be putting in bilstiens ASAP. Also did the air conditioning. Thankfully all I had to do was a new compressor and charge it and I blew ice cold no problems. My idler pulley destroyed itself so had to do that. A few no start issues so I’ve replaced the ipr ICP fuel bowl harness and the gpr with a white Rodgers stancor. And a hpx line from Riffraff which seemed to smooth the idle a bit
Next were the mirrors. I hated not being able to see hardly anything out of the tiny stock ones so I got these from advance auto online
one of my favorite mods. They have so much visibility and I do like the way they look
Me and my buddy are big time truck enthusiasts especially performance wise. One day jokingly he said “ that thing would look awesome with a hood stack” to which i said Heck yes!!
so pulled a 3 am Job for a cruise day the next day and here’s what happened And then my girlfriend wanted to paint it. So I told her only blue. To match the interior and the FORD on the back so that’s what she did and not gonna lie I did like it a lot
And don’t worry I got a different hood before I did it so I could switch back! Lol. If you look close you can see the hood is a very slightly different color
