Hey everyone,
You all ready for this hopefully last gasp of winter? I have not done anything to the 79 lately. Between 10 hour work days and trying to stay ahead of everything else I just haven't had any time.
Thursday last week we had a tornado pass by the house, No damage other than some limbs in the yard. Friday downtown was flooded out from all the rain so I had to take the super long way around to get to work. Monday a plane hit the power wires and we didn't have electricity till 2 AM.
Happy Easter everyone! The son was up early looking for eggs.
I have been busy doing stuff around the hose and have not worked on the truck this weekend.. Cleaned the pool, set up a security camera system, installed a new battery in our big 4 wheeler. installed an electrical outlet to power the wife's shed that's supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
Sorry i have not posted much, been real busy with work and spring clean up around the property. 4 weeks from today we will be on vacation and I can't wait. I am ready for some down time.
Twisted my knee on Wednesday, I was on crutches Thursday and Friday. Finally able to walk on it some yesterday without the crutches. The knee brace is a big help.
Sounds like you have had a heck of a time. Me too. A lot going on all the time. Started a little pet garden. Not much to take care off but should provide plenty of what I need. Trying the straw bail method of planting. Seems to have some good perks. Glad to hear your knee is getting better. I received my 2 catch cans for my F 150 this weekend. I had to have 2, one for suction during idle conditions and one for boost, when the turbos are spooled up. I got them for around $25 a piece. They came with all the hard ware but I would recommend buying stiffer rubber hoses than the ones supplied, as I feel suction may collapse them. Shouldn't take me long to install. I recommend them for anyone who has a gas burning engine. The more I read up on them, the more I learned at how they reduce carbon buildup on pistons, valves and increase fuel efficiency through a cleaner burn in the combustion chamber. I wish I had the little 3.0 L diesel in this truck. Ford claims it gets 30 mile/gal. It also has a fair amount of torque.
Yea its been a crazy last couple of weeks.
I never put catch cans on the Lightning, never felt the need for them. 3 more weeks until vacation time and I sure can't wait.
I'm ready to go on a vacation as well. I've been wanting to hit a few places on my bucket list. I've been trying to line up different camp grounds and even do a little boon docking along the way. As long as the nights stay cool I can run the AS lights on battery. I can just pull in to a National Forest camp out for the evening, leave everything hooked up and hit the road the next morning. Just wish my wife was able to handle driving bigger vehicles and pulling a camper.

It's mostly the Direct injection doesn't keep the carbon build up off the intake valves the way port injection keeps it washed off. These little cyclone engines really pack a punch. The worst thing ford techs say is around 150 k they have to clean the valves due to people baby them or let them idle a lot. Ford also says don't try spraying anything in there to loosen it up as a chunk could go through a turbo and mess it up. So only 2 viable options remain. Catch can and Blow the soot out of it from time to time. Look at some videos of people emptying catch cans. There is a lot of nasty stuff comes out of the crank case. .

I ordered a rear tire for the Benz instead of a front, Dang it!!
Ordered the correct one tonight but will take 5 to 7 days to get here. The new wheel bearings came in today, I can at least get those changed out this weekend. Regular bearings and races and not the sealed ones.
Got an interesting call on Tuesday. One of the salesman I worked with at John Deere called me. He told me he quit working for John Deere and went back to his old job at the local Kubota dealership. He asked me straight up what it would take for me to come be the Service Manager at the Kubota place. I told him what it would take, he told me to give him a few days and he would get back with me.
Still have not heard anything back from the sales guy. It'll be what it'll be.
The Benz parts always take a while since I can get them cheaper online and have to wait for them. The 07 caddy is just becoming a pain. Never had any issues until after the mom in-law wrecked it. The best riding SUV I've ever owned. Activly looking for another SUV for the mom in-law and will just keep it and do a new long block and new transmission.
