Hi im new here but i have a 91 Ford Ranger XLT and so the problem is that i have lose of power and im getting a code on my OBD-1 scanner that basicly says that its running lean and it just started out of no where i have replaced these sensors and parts
TPS
MAF
IACV
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Fuel Pump
as so far it hasnt fixed anything it will high idle and then kick down and sound like shes about to stall out ive been told to try to replace my O2 sensor but unsure if i should because ive spent my whole first paycheck trying to fix my baby need advice
My ranger was behaving the exact same way. Turned out to be a couple of vacuum leaks.
i dont know what i did but today me and a buddy went over everything and tighten everything best we could to torque specs and it just stopped it idles alittle high but not to much to make me worry
So basically you started off with a high idle problem. Didn’t do any diagnostic testing such as running the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) self test to check for active and stored codes. Then threw your wallet at it by replacing parts that were more then likely still good only to still have a high idle which you are “ok” with.
I think oldandcrotchety nailed it with the vacuum leaks as the cause of the high idle. Either broken hoses or the intake manifold gasket(s).
You really need to diagnose problems and only repair/ replace what is broken or else you will quickly become poor, frustrated and end up junking the truck.

no it started off my truck wouldnt stay running the TPS fixed that and then it started to high idle at 3,000 RPM and then dies down and acts like it will stall out i replaced the IAC and it fixed it and idle at like 1300 or 140 not which is close enough to normal and as for the fuel pump and regulator both went out becuz my furl pump went out and the regulator had fuel shoot out the vaccum side the code i got from my scanner were TPS related and then running lean which was causing my lose of power
Did you remove the throttle body to replace the TPS? If so, did you use a new gasket? Have you been using Motorcraft electrical parts when available: new aftermarket sensors don’t necessary mean that they are good.
1,300-1,400 rpm is almost twice the normal idle speed.
