Radio static

My Excursion OEM radio is picking up static on every station. I swapped antennas with my F150 and no change. Ex antenna is perfectly clear on the truck. I checked cable connections and all are solid. Grounds seem to be okay. Weird thing is when the key is turned back to accessory only, the radio is perfect but turn the key forward to KOEO and I get the annoying static. Anyone know what my problem may be?

So the static is only with engine running, or also engine off?

Any work done or parts added recently?

Can you swap the radio into the F150? Maybe not into the dash but just connected.

Yes, static when running also.

I can swap my f350 radio and the Ex. They're same year and same unit. I'll give that a go tonight.

No recent mods except upgraded headlight harness and a back up camera review mirror.... uh, oh. Stay tuned.

Well, I'll be damned. It's the back up camera/dash cam mirror that I wired to the ignition wire so it would turn on automatically with the key on. Powered it off and the radio immediately goes clear. Thanks for triggering me to check that out!

I was going to say a 12v or ground circuit interference, but it seems you sorted it out. Did you share the radio ground as well? If so, try using a separate ground and see if that works better.

I think it shares a ground with something IIRC under the dash panel. I'll have to explore it further. That could very well be my issue. I tried repping you and David, but I'm in rep jail
