I have a 1992 F-150 Last summer swapped 302 to 351 to maf , I used the fiveology kit. It worked well. Removed the stock 19lb injectors. Called for 24lb injectors. Engine run good up to 3k RPMs it falls flat struggles after that. Question is the issue with my stock fuel pumps? I've read many different opinions on that. The stock pumps is around 85lph I've read that with 24lb injectors will need Pumps with at least 112lph. I've also noticed that when cold it acts like it's fuel starved. I have a feeling that these problems are related. What do you all think?
thanks
V8 engines running ~39 PSI the factory pumps are rated at 105 L/hr.
Before going any further with parts rent or buy a fuel pressure tester. That will tell you if you have fuel starvation. Tape the gauge to the windshield then drive down the street and punch the throttle a few times.Fuel pressure should rise under load/low vacuum conditions. It should never fall below the pressure recorded at idle with the vacuum hose attached to the fuel pressure regulator, ~ 29-32 PSI reported by most users.Full throttle/low vacuum the pressure should rise to ~39-42 PSI range.
I had 24lb injectors on a 5.8 for a while just for tuning practice with the TweecerRT and had no problems with fuel starvation, that was with the stock pumps in a '90 F150. So really good chance you have a weak pump or dirty filter.
