When in the 12V aux hot on the 7-pin connector? I treid with arunning engine, keyfob in the car and doors closed (as I read in forum), but still no 12v aux on the pin. I think first it need to reconnize that the trailer by hooking up the trailer but then I cannot test the power (if connected). Please I need some advise.
Thanks, I have a 2021 F250 Super Duty 6,7 Power Stroke.
Steve, thanks I will check this tomorrow. Can you also inform me how to check the left blinker/brake signal on the 7-pin connector? Because when I hook up my trailer and use my left blinker in TV it will give an error message to check my left lamps. But when I connect my "old" TV (Nissan Armada) my left blinker is working on the trailer!
I just went through a nightmare with my trailer lights. I added a Hopkins in-bed connector and couldn't get anything to work. I even dove into the 25,000 page service manual, bought a plug in 7 pin diagnostic device, hand checked all 8 fuses that had the word "trailer" in them and finally found it was a bad ground. A normal alternator puts out 13.8 to 14.2 volts. What is the voltage on your trailer battery?
Grounding problems account for 80-90% of all seven pin problems. As to the voltage, it depends on the connections, the condition of the connection, etc. Some voltage drop is normal. You will want to see more than 13 VDC to maintain the batteries while on the road. Do not expect to see a very large amperage output from the charge lead.
