Any of you guy's Installed a USB port? Was thinking of putting one in my 49 and would like know what brand to get.... I see where some have a Volt meter too. What do you recommend? A posted pic would be nice.
As for function, they are all pretty much the same...as for form that's another story. I would say that the location where you intend to mount the port will impact the decision the most. I have a console where I have a place to mount a USB which makes it nice to charge my cell phone out of sight. My stereo head unit has a USB port as well which holds a memory stick or can charge the phone as well.
I will also put at least one in my console as you mentioned and a connection for my hi def DAP . But since my console is also a seat I want at least one in the open although I hadn't thought of the stereo receiver . I also agree with Harrier on having an old fashioned cigarette lighter plug ( oops showing my age should be power point right ) as I still have ancient items with this sort of connection .
Found this one on Amazon so I'll order one, it's alum. not plastic and only $12.99. I don't have a console or a cigarette lighter but will fab up a bracket and find a home for it similar to Harrier's set up..... and remember EBEAR, age is only a number, heard that someplace but I think it's bs. Wife's uncle use to say, golden years my A$$ LOL! I know just what he was talking about.
