Finally got the 65 out and on the road first time in new year. It was slow to start and slow to warm up and settle down, but what a fun drive. 20 miles out and back along the foothills at 45mph and it was purring. No rattles, squeeks or bad sounding noises, and the windows were down so I didn't hear the wind noise Such fun and sense of accomplishment!
I bought the truck Oct 2019, it'd been sitting in a yard for 8 years. I found this amazing forum and spent every free minute the entire year 2020 working on the truck. Gotta say it was the most satisfying project I've done in years....which brings me to my Shout out to so many of you that helped me along the way. This truck is all intact and rolling thanks to so many different parts and pieces that came from you good fellows on this slick Sixties Forum. You were always tthere to lend a tip and advise and encouragement. Best group I ever found.
I'm rebuilding a Honda atv right now and let me tell ya, the guys on Honda forums won't even respond to my questions. ...maybe if I'd chosen a username like Big Bubba that would've helped haha
Again guys ...you all are the best. Couldn't have done it without you all. Thanks so much
Everytime I look in my bed I think of your generous gift of bed steel for my patch repair...And your help when I was rebuilding the window regulators Resonateur...I remember
I second everything you said mulegal! I took mine out yesterday for what I thought was going to be a short trip, but the day was so gorgeous and I was having so much fun I just kept going for almost an hour. Mine definitely still has some rattles, but she was running good. I love all the looks you get and the thumbs ups and the honks.
So many great people here that help so much. Couldn't have done it without you.
Glad you got to take 'er out Sal. I agree, nothing like it. Although on the San Diego freeways that I daily drive it's easy to forget. Time for me to slow down for a minute and have a Sunday cruise through the backcountry. Aww crap, it's Monday. well, maybe next weekend.
