Ok so I’m looking at taking the cab off my 1983 F350 6.9 4speed 2wd truck. The bed is currently off and I’m looking to take off the cab and clean and undercoat the frame. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or step by step instructions for taking off the cab for this truck.
it's been a while since I looked for body parts but LMC Truck is a good source too. personally I do more FAB than just getting parts...but I have the equipment to do it so there is that.
Yeah I’m a pipefitter by trade so I have some metal fabrication skills. Although sheet metal is a completely different animal. I feel comfortable with the welding and grinding so if I can get some pre fabbed pieces I think I’ll be able to make it work.
to be honest, it would probably be easier to look for a clean southern cab.
for $400 i got a complete 87 F150 to swap onto my 88 diesel to replace all the rotted out parts.
yeah... I guess Pipe fitting panels on an IDI is better than Pipe fitting on solar panels ...I used to do welding equipment repair... so I know where you are coming from.....
Pre-FABBED stuff is always easier to work with.....IF it ain't too bad Fiber Glass is a good option too after ya cut the Cancer out...all body work is a PIA no matter how you look at it... I learned Lead work years back but vehicles were not made from Tin Cans back then either.... I also did a bunch of Aircraft sheet metal work too (bullet Hole patching mostly)

I have an 85 f250 4wd with a 351 C6 that I was going to use the cab of that for a swap because it’s pretty much in mint condition. I think i have decided tho that I kind of what you try and repair the Idi for the fun of it and see what I can do with an old rust bucket. What can I say I’m a glutton for punishment.
