Now my 97 f150 won't start in neutral so I want to replace the neutral safety switch. Hopefully that will allow me to get it into Park.
O'Reilly's says there are two versions available, an 8 pin and an 11 pin connector. Anyone know which one I need? I guess I can crawl under there and take a look.
To me, it sounds like you still don’t have it adjusted correctly if it won’t physically go into PARK. If the switch doesn’t see the resistance for neutral then it won’t start.
I think you need to get the linkage/cable adjusted so it goes in all gears. Then you would adjust the MLPS if it didn’t already fix itself after doing the first step.
I put in a new MLPS and glad I did. Shifting is normal now, better than ever.
However, truck will not start! I can start it at the relay but don't see 12 volts on fuse 21 with the key in start position. Swapping the old ignition switch back in does not help. I see 12V coming into the switch on B4.
When I bought the switch at O'Reilly's there were two the chose from. An 8 pin and an 11 pin. I picked the 11 pin as it looked identical to the original. Is it possible I installed the wrong one?
In the center of the sensor is a ring that rotates with the shaft. It has a mark on it. When the trans is in neutral align this mark with the mark on the shell of the sensor. Then it's aligned properly.
