Hey guys quick question concerning the first gen lightnings. I am starting the process of rounding up parts to go through basically the entire chassis. Brakes, lines, bushings, shocks, the works. I know that there a lot of unique items to the Lightnings what about things like disks/calipers, rear drums? although as cheap as the kit is i may just do rear disk conversion. Where can i get Lightning specific front end rebuild stuff like sway bar links/suspension bushings and shocks? Is there a list anywhere that lists that SVO did as far as upgrades from standard F150 stuff? thanks all . ..
Probably need a disc brake conversion for 8.8 diff, and there might even be a junk yard conversion from newer 8.8. I got all my stuff for front from Napa it was all moog but I'm not pushing moog
Dont buy those white pivot and radius arm bushing they just break into pieces ,get rubber oem or red poly
Its easy to get wrong stuff I've had lightning long time so hears another tip measure your shocks buy them by what length you need because they say lightning but it comes for f150 without the lightning drop
cool, thanks guys. i kinda thought the front brakes might be different/bigger. Seems like a rear disk conversion is a good (and very reasonably priced) way to go for the rears. Also very much considering lowering and leveling it if i can find a proper kit for it. I've seen drop beam kits but most places appear to be out of stock.
this is actually the first i have ever really even been around a Lightning. Always wanted one but very few and far between, really diggin this thing.
would a standard F150 lowering kit be the same for a Lightning?

They come dropped about 1 and 1/2 from factory I just saw a guy on tube that used the drop beams but with lightning coils it was to low so he had to put regular f150 coils in and there's 3 types reg./ heavy/ heavy duty. He had to go with the reg.to get right height

thats funny, i literally just ran across that today on youtube. They were doing a build off with an ss 454 as well then did a showdown (i havnt got that far yet so no spoiler lol)
im going to have to give the drop spindles some more thought. Actually id be happy if it was just level. Dont really want to swap the springs to stockers assuming the Lightnings are a performance spring of some sort.
Offshore,
Question. In an earlier post of yours above (2021) you mentioned you drained the old fuel, am curious how you accomplished it?
I'm going to have to drain fuel in my stored 1993 F-150 Supercab at some point in the future, so I'm curious.
