Hello out there!
I'm having a starting problem right now on my 2008 F350 Diesel; crank but no start. I have traced the problem to the Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module CDIM on the wiring diagram but when I call around to Ford dealer parts dept. they say they do not show a part by that name in their inventory or diagrams. Does anyone know if they have changed the name of this part?
Thanks
Are you sure that your truck even has a CDIM? It would have to have been a California-emissions vehicle built after 1/1/2008 with an automatic transmission in order to have one.
How did you "trace the problem to the Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module CDIM on the wiring diagram"? What circuit checks did you make on the truck to reach such a conclusion?
FWIW, module part number is 8C3Z-12C527-A and is called the "Idle Speed Control". To learn more about it, see attachment.
Would also lie to see the diagram you're using. The CDIM doesn't appear in the drawings for the '08 in my version of the service DVD (published 10/07). It is in the 09 version in cell 13-21 for the 09 F350.
Hi to both EDC8009 and to You,
Attached is the diagram I'm working off of. I think your right I can't find the module in the location its supposed to be in and I think the truck doesn't have one.
Thanks to you both for the reply
ks to you both for the reply
Suggest posting in the correct sub-forum for your specific engine with only your actual symptoms and details for assistance. That will focus attention from other owner's of the same configuration who are more likely to have seen your issue.
It appears that the CDIM thing has turned out to be a "rabbit trail" you've gotten lost down.
Could be...I went out one morning and the truck would crank over but not start. Also, the key would not spring back from the start position to run. So, replaced the ignition switch and rebuilt the key cylinder and still...crank but no start. We checked the relays associated with the ignition sys and checked all the fuses and same problem we traced it on the schematic to what we thought was the CDIM but now I think it does not have one so back to the drawing board.
