1995 Ford Cabover vin decoder help

I'm looking at a medium duty truck that is 26000 GVW. I think it has a 5.9 Cummins and an Allison at545. I cannot find a VIN decoder that goes back this far. I tried to post on the decoder thread but ended up posting on somebody's thread. I am copying my post and moving it here.

Good day gentlemen, I have an opportunity to purchase a Ford cabover medium duty truck for a very very reasonable price. Manufacture date is 10/94. The transmission code is AA. I assume that means Allison Transmission. The GVW is 26000 so I'm assuming that means in the AT545. I only had a few seconds to look at it but it looked like a 5.9 Cummins. All of the VIN decoders that I find only go back to 2000. Can I get help here solving this question?

Should I write the whole Vin here?

The AT545 is arguably the worst transmission Allison ever made. No overdrive, no lockup and known to allow runaways on grades due to the lack of engine braking.

A '95 will have a 17 digit number. I do not have a way to decode it and have not seen anyone else doing it either. But I have put them in to these sites:

https://vincheck.info/free-vin-decod...rd-vin-decoder

https://vehicleidentificationnumber....ord-truck.html

and others.

The 5.9 is no powerhouse.

Fixed it for you. You're not telling me anything that I don't already know. I own two International buses what those Transmissions.

Thank you for the links. The second one has reached his limit so I will try it later. I know this motor will be a dog in any 26k GVW truck. I'm looking at it for a donor for an engine swap. I will get a chance to look at it in the next day or two. I'm hoping it's mechanical injection with a p pump. It would go into a F-250 or F-350 chassis.

Well it's a guarantee it's a mechanical P pump engine. That's all that was available in these trucks for the 5.9 cummins. There was no VP44 used until the 1998 model year in Ford's and the VE was never used. It will be a good swap candidate. However the cooling fan will need to be swapped as it is crankshaft mounted on the cabover trucks.

So this would be a good engine for a swap you say. If I buy it, it will be put on ice until I leave this craphole of a state. Gashog, if you are near the Delta, I am less than 50 miles from you.

According to this website, Cummins Horsepower & Torque by Model Year, it probably has 160 hp and 400 ft.lb. of torque. With a little massaging, this should be sufficient for an Excursion I hope.

Any suggestions on items for a conversion? What about safely bumping the juice?

The 5.9 cummins used in the Ford Cargo series were decent engines and the same base engine as used in Dodge pickups at the time.
HP varied from a 160 to 190 and 230, much of the external components are different, fan drive, alternator mount, radiator hose outlets, exhaust manifold, intake inlet, bell housing adapter, oil pan and pickup and the list goes on.
The injection pump plungers are 11mm were as the Dodge pumps have 12mm plungers, they will make good power but not to the level of the 12mm pumps.
If the engine is low miles and a good price it would be worth getting but be aware your going to need several parts that would already be on a 5.9 from a Dodge.
I converted my 04 F-450 from 6.0 to 5.9 and love the finished product but be prepared to invest $6-10k into the project before it's drivable.

It's mine. I couldn't pay for a Dodge wheel for the price I paid. It is a p pump. I'm ahead of the game by just having it. Two different mileage readings. 72k and 187k. The first is the odometer June 2nd is the Hubometer. I believe the second number.
