96 f150 4.9l 5 speed. Someone disconnected the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing and replaced with wjth a mechanical gauge so now the ecu has no input from it. It runs poorly when it gets to operating temp and gets terrible gas mileage. How do i buy a new one and wire it in? They removed the wiring to it.
When that coolant sensor isnt hooked up, the computer tells the injectors to run rich so the engine will get warmer quicker...in other words, after you fix the sensor issue, you will probably need to blow out some carbon by running a can of seafoam in the gas tank & hammering the throttle several times on the highway.

Yea it ruined the o2 sensors! It runs too rich and it has a code saying its too lean on both sensors, long term fuel trim is like +20 on both banks im suprised it even runs decent but it does get atrocious gas mileage, ill be changing the sensors when they arrive in the mail
