I'd like to eliminate the spare tire lock and cover the hole with a blank insert or something that will remove easy should I need to access the spare tire. Does anyone know of a supplier who sells a plate to cover this hole or what have you done with yours.
I realize leaving the hole open is an option, but I'd prefer to cover with an insert unless I need to access for the tire.
Thanks, I will continue to look for one. I have a rubber floor pan plug installed now but it's a bit on the loose side. I was most curious is someone was marketing a fix to replace the OEM lock.
The key lock assembly is right in the way of water, road grime and can get clogged up/freeze up and not work (NOT unlock your spare) and the worst time to find this out is along the shoulder of the highway, with a flat, at night, in the rain. See where I am going with this?
Get out there right now, flip up the cover, WD it to death and see if it works. I had to use some tools to get it off the bumper. Once off, leave it off and take the cover off, and just 2 side tape it back on to cover the hole.
