I am having a problem with my brake pedal not returning the last inch or so. I have a frame mounted CPP brake booster and front disc/rear drum with backflow valves. I have a Ron Francis brake light switch on my brake arm and this is causing the lights to stay on. Has anyone had this problem before and has anyone used a return spring to bring the brake arm all the way back?
Are the brakes actually applied, or just the brake light staying on? Could just be an adjustment issue with the rod between the booster and brake arm or brake switch itself.
I have same kit, except for brake light switch New parking brake cable installed
I'd love to see a picture of how you solved for this, my pedal is a little slow on the return travel, and I have been pondering some sort of return spring setup.
My truck is a 56 but not stock. The brake arm doesn’t have a hole for a spring (I could drill one no problem). But thank you for pointing out the original needed a spring, didn’t know that. I could use that spring for mine if need be, thanks again!
I'm working on this problem right now on my 54. My brakes are 100% stock and the return spring has a hole to go into to pull the plunger forward - no problem there. But, where does the other end of the spring connect? I stretched it to a hole in the frame without too much effort - but some, but the peddle does not pop back like it should when connected there. I can stretch is to another location about 4 inches further, but wow does that ever take some arm power. There must be a stock location. Any help?

I'm pretty sure there is a hole for the spring on the transmission / rear of motor cross member..
For future reference, the bottom photo is my 51. Should be correct for the 48-52.
this is helpful, thanks, now I just need to drill a hole somewhere in my transmission, or find a suitable place to rig it to. I've got an 80's AOD in my truck.
